Preview: Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Sonic and Mario, the unlikeliest of duos, have teamed up once again for a show of colorful mini-games, diversions, and zaniness to bring you Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, coming to Wii and Nintendo 3DS. Previously the plumber, hedgehog, and all of their friends took off to Beijing and Vancouver, and it’s that time again to head out to London for another round of realistic sporting events, fantastical “dream” events, and daunting motion control that will test your skills as well as your patience. Okay, mostly your patience, as far as the Wii events are concerned.

Impressions: Frobot

Frobot – he’s one bad mutha…robot. Shut my mouth? Man, I’m just talkin’ ‘bout the funkiest robot ever to hit the Wii. It’s also the name of indie developer Fugazo’s new multiplayer game for Nintendo’s WiiWare service, which sees the best stereotypical blaxploitation flicks, the “swagger” of the ‘70s, and an explosive rainbow palette of colors joining forces to create one of the most unique adventure/platforming/puzzler the console has seen in a while.

Reload drops much of the pretensions accompanying many of today’s most popular shooting games focuses on being an entertaining journey through several of those nostalgic venues, a quick and easy point-and-shoot excursion with a variety of weapons and targets at your disposal.

I’ve never really dabbled in yoga, at least not when it comes to videogames. For that, I’ve always gravitated toward more intensive workouts, like Dance Dance Revolution, when I’ve been in the mood. Before New U Fitness First: Yoga and Pilates Workout, I hadn’t the first clue about what you actually do with yoga. Sure, I’ve heard about its health and mental benefits and have always wanted to give it a try, although I wasn’t sure if a videogame was the best place to start. But after diving in and giving it a fair shake, I had a decent understanding of the workout and new-found appreciation for just how peaceful and relaxing the art of yoga and Pilates can truly be.

Review: Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time

Sometimes, you just have to bust out the mini-games, and for the money, functionality, and appeal to both core and casual gamers, you usually can’t go wrong with a Raving Rabbids adventure. The latest offering, Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time is no different, serving up some zany and scatterbrained fun that’s appropriate for the whole family. They may not be boosting the genre to new heights, but they will “BWAAH!” their way into your heart.
