When I was but a wee gamer, I took great delight in the Incredible Machines puzzle games, which required use of complex (and sometimes simple) logic in order to create your own inventions and widgets to perform functions of your choice. The franchise has since fizzled out, but I have found a spiritual successor in the iPhone title DaVinci’s Secret Machines.

Impressions: Big Buck Hunter Pro
I’ve always been a sucker for shooting galleries. Any time I make my way to an arcade that features several of the titles, I can’t help but plunk my 50 cents to $1.00 into the machine and burn up a good pocketful of cash simply trying to get my name in the credits. An iPhone app known as Big Buck Hunter Pro has surfaced, mirroring this experience for on-the-go hunting joy. In fact, it’s a portable version of a real light-gun game that you can find scattered throughout the US. And wouldn’t you know it? I’m impossibly hooked on this hokey little game.
Impressions: Hip Hop All Star
The success of DJ Hero has prompted other games to follow in its footsteps. Even on platforms you wouldn’t normally expect to see similar titles, different imitators are sprouting everywhere! One of the latest, and perhaps one of the greatest, has surfaced. Entitled Hip Hop All Star, it provides mobile gamers with a chance to enjoy all of what made DJ Hero great, sans the astronomical price tag and bulky (albeit excellent) peripheral.
Review: Zenonia
While the iPhone is rarely considered a true gaming platform by a glut of the gamer populace, it’s actually home to quite a few substantial successes that wouldn’t be out of place on the more “accepted” handhelds. Amongst ports of classic FPS titles, addictive puzzlers, and handy applications, the App Store is home to several fantastic RPGs, namely a particularly intriguing one entitled Zenonia.
Impressions: Speed Bag: Urban Gym
Some of us are far too busy to have the time to actually go and work out. I suppose that’s the message that Speed Bag: Urban Gym was trying to convey. Now you can get a great workout on the go with one finger via your iPhone or iPod Touch! All joking aside, this is actually an interesting little app that I wasn’t quite sure about at first. Featuring nothing but a speed punching bag and a stationary background, all you need to know how to do is hit, or tap, accurately.
