Review: Tobe & Friends: Hookshot Escape

When it comes to iOS titles, there’s something to be said about simple, addictive premises. Something you spend minutes learning how to do and then hours perfecting is mystifying. Tobe & Friends Hookshot Escape is great at offering just that. It’s a quickfire high-score game that reaches out and puts the player in a vice grip, all the while shouting “Play me! Keep playing!”

Review: Sine Mora

Sine Mora, roughly translated from Latin, means “without delay.” It’s a stark warning as to what you’re getting into, with this frenetic shoot-’em-up brought to us via Grasshopper Manufacture. So the English-language localization of Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, a PSP release, is a pretty big deal. Its play style reflects that of a “choose your own adventure” story and packs in plenty of bishounen for its intended female audience, plus an engaging narrative that sticks with you long after the journey comes to an end.

Review: Fancy Pants

If the name “Fancy Pants” sounds familiar, you’re not alone. It references a wildly popular Flash game that’s leapt onto an iOS device near you. Fancy Pants is a capable, fluid, and humorous platformer that does the “doodle” art style proud.
